15 Signs You Need a New Website in 2027—and What to Do

Fifteen signals that a website is holding a business back, grouped by how urgent they actually are.
Signals cluster into three groups. Messaging signals: visitors cannot tell what you sell, your best work is buried, pricing is a mystery, and sales keeps repeating the same explanations. Structural signals: the navigation has grown by accretion, key pages are three clicks deep, and templates cannot express what the product actually is.
Technical signals carry the most urgency: slow load times, broken mobile layouts, an unmaintainable platform, missing analytics, accessibility failures, and content that takes weeks to update because publishing is a bottleneck.
Sort your list by consequence rather than annoyance. Anything blocking inquiries, search visibility, or accessibility should be addressed immediately; anything cosmetic can wait for a planned redesign. The list itself is your scope document.
