Website Redesign Cost: What Actually Drives the Price?

Website Redesign Cost: What Actually Drives the Price?

Website redesign quotes range from a few thousand dollars to six figures. Here's what actually drives the price, and how to scope your project before you get attached to a number.

A redesign rarely costs what a page count suggests. Two sites with forty pages each can differ by a factor of five, because the price sits in the variables around the pages: how many templates exist, how much content has to be written from scratch, how many integrations need to work, and how many people have to approve each decision.

The largest cost driver is content. Every page that has to be researched, written, and approved by stakeholders is work. The second is architectural complexity — migrating thousands of URLs, preserving search visibility, and reconciling a design system across products.

Then come the integrations: CMS, CRM, commerce, personalization, localization, analytics. Each one adds build time and a dependency that must be tested. And the least visible driver is governance: a single decision-maker compresses timelines, while a committee of eight stretches them.

Before you ask for a number, write down your template inventory, your content owner, your integration list, and who signs off. A partner can quote honestly against those four answers — and you avoid the version of the project where scope creeps and the estimate doubles.
